Abstract
SLE is a well-known autoimmune disease of unknown etiology, in which a utoantibodies play a significant role. Here, John Harley and Judith Ja mes discuss studies on the epitopes of anti-spliceosomal proteins and anti-Ro/SSA, including a new peptide-induced animal model of lupus, an d propose a role for EBV in precipitating the disease.
