Xh. Chen et al., REUSABILITY OF BOND ELUT CERTIFY COLUMNS FOR THE EXTRACTION OF DRUGS FROM PLASMA, Journal of chromatography. Biomedical applications, 619(1), 1993, pp. 137-142
The reusability of Bond Elut Certify columns for the extraction of tox
icologically relevant drugs from plasma has been evaluated. Pentobarbi
tal, hexobarbital, mepivacaine, trimipramine and clonazepam were selec
ted as test drugs to represent various classes of drugs. The columns w
ere regenerated immediately after an extraction by washing with methan
ol, hydrochloric acid (1%), water and methanol, sequentially. These re
generated columns were found to be reusable for plasma. More than 85%
of the test drugs were recovered when the columns were used three time
s. However, the extraction power of the regenerated columns decreased
slightly with the number of reuses, so that a column should not be use
d more than two or three times.
