Sm. Sisinni et Mo. Anderson, METHODS AND RESULTS OF NATURAL-RESOURCE ASSESSMENTS IN NEW-YORK-CITY,NEW-YORK, Landscape and urban planning, 25(1-2), 1993, pp. 95-114
In 1985, the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation, in coop
eration with the US Forest Service, developed methods to evaluate urba
n natural resources. The project had two phases: (1) a city-wide inven
tory of natural resources and (2) individual park ecological assessmen
ts. Results of these studies were used to develop a preliminary databa
se, city-wide natural resources policies and park-specific management
plans. Methods used in New York City can be tailored to the unique con
ditions of cities throughout the country.
