Abstract
The loss of Li-8 recoil nuclei in Li-7(d,p)Li-8 has been measured usin g different backings and (LiF)-Li-7 target thicknesses as well as diff erent deuteron energies. The results confirm essentially recent TRIM c alculations. The losses are large (about 13%) for the combination of t hin targets and heavy backings at E-d = 0.80 MeV and increase with dec reasing deuteron energy. The implications on the cross sections for Li -7(d,p)Li-8 and Be-7(p,gamma)B-8 are discussed.
