Abstract
The excited state properties of magnesium(II)-tetrabenzoporphyrin (Mg- TBP) were studied by using intensity dependent transmission (non-linea r absorption), ps-transient absorption and time resolved luminescence spectroscopy. It was found that there is a strong excited absorption i n the region around 500 nm, Because there is no or little ground state absorption in this region the dye is suitable as an optical limiter.
