One objective of cognitive sciences is to specify in dialectic with models of cognit ive functioning based upon experimental paradigms, the disruption in i nformation processing in subjects who suffer from particular pathologi es, A thorough investigation of cognitive functions such as: language, attention and memory tend to show that depression is a cognitive diso rder. A critical literature review based on clinical neuropsychologica l data of mood disturbance takes account of the eventual possibility o f a relation between affect and cognition, Brain imaging rinforces tha t possibility.
