Abstract
In Part 1 of this two part paper (see p. 273) a process model combinin g slag-metal equilibrium and fluid flow calculations was developed to predict and modify the composition of steel inclusions. The provision of good quality validated chemical data plays a key role in optimising the model parameters. Part 2 describes how a variety of analytical me thods generate chemical and phase information that can be used to char acterise the inclusions. Steelmakers can then develop routes which opt imise the properties of steels. IS/1391b (C) 1998 The Institute of Mat erials.
