Abstract
In the present work, the viscosities of some FenO-MnO-SiO2 and FenO-Mg O-SiO2 pseudoternary slags were determined by the rotating cylinder me thod using a Brookfield digital viscometer model RVDV-III. For the Fen O-MnO-SiO2 system, the slags were chosen in a composition range of Fen O varying from 10.0 to 49.05 wt-% and MnO from 10.0 to 45.0 wt-%. The slag composition in the FenO-MgO-SiO2 system varied from 165 to 68.0 w t-%FenO and from 8.0 to 31.55 wt-%MgO. The experimental temperature ra nges for the FenO-M nO-SiO2 and FenO-MgO-SiO2 systems were 1523-1753 K and 1608-2031 K, respectively. The experimental data were incorporate d in a viscosity model developed earlier in the Division of Theoretica l Metallurgy, Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm. On the basis o f the model calculations, expressions for the viscosities in these two pseudoternary systems were suggested. IS/1325 (C) 1998 The Institute of Materials.
