We study the transport through of a double barrier heterostructure wit
h a lateral confinement. In this system the region between the barrier
s simulates a quantum wire. The shape of the I-V and G-V curves are ch
aracteristic of a double-barrier system with a superpossed structure w
hich is a consequence of the lateral confinement. We also include nonl
inearities due to the electron-electron interaction and we calculate s
elfconsistently the main transport properties of the system. We invest
igate the effect of the nonlinear term in different confinement regime
