Abstract
The Bu3SnH mediated cyclisation of various N-acryloxy-2-amino-2-cycloh exenones was explored. This predominantly gave rise to bicyclic lactam s but the reaction mechanism was shown to depend upon the substitution of the amide double bond. Preliminary studies targeted towards the pr eparation of bicyclic lactones are also reported. (C) 1998 Elsevier Sc ience Ltd. All rights reserved.
