A new strontium oxoselenoantimonate(III), Sr-10[Sb7O13(OH)](2) [SbSe3]
(2). 2H(2)O, has been hydrothermally synthesized and characterized by
single crystal structure determination. It crystallizes in the monocli
nic system, space group P2(1)/n, with a = 11.4013(6) Angstrom, b = 18.
417(1)Angstrom, c = 13.0568(7) Angstrom, beta = 108.51(1)degrees, V =
2599.9(2) Angstrom(3), measured at 223 It. In the structure [SbO3] pyr
amids share oxygen atoms to form [Sb7O13(OH)] single branched six-ring
s that are interconnected by Sr-O bonds into layers with composition [
Sr5Sb7O13(OH)]. The interlayer spaces are occupied by [SbSe3] pyramids
and isolated Se2- anions. Both the [Sb7O13(OH)] single branched six-r
ings and the [SbSe3] pyramids can be considered as building blocks of
the known structure K-6[Sb12O18][SbSe3](2). 6H(2)O. (C) 1998 Academic
