LIGNANS FROM THE LIVERWORT BAZZANIA-TRILOBATA

Six new lignans, 5,5 ''-bis 1-(3',4'-dihydroxyphenyl)-1,2-dihydronapht halene], trilobatins AC, trilobatin A-1 ''-methyl ester and bazzania a cid, as well as y-1-(3',4'-dihydroxyphenyl)-1,2-dihydronaphthalene and ,7-dihydroxy-1-(3',4'-dihydroxyphenyl)-naphthalene were isolated from the liverwort Bazzania trilobata. Their structures have been elucidat ed from extensive NMR spectral evidence and, in the case of trilobatin C, additionally by chemical derivatization.
