Pl. Janssen et al., STRUCTURE AND METHODS OF INPATIENT PSYCHOTHERAPY FROM A PSYCHOANALYTIC AND BEHAVIORAL POINT-OF-VIEW, Psychotherapeut, 43(5), 1998, pp. 265-276
In this survey we describe the development of in-patient psychotherapy
based on psychoanalysis and behavioral therapy as a specific independ
ent area of health care for the so-called psychogenic disorders. Basic
structural information is given about the size of the institution - w
ard or special clinic-, financing, length of stay, number of staff etc
. One central issue is the development of methodical procedures. Psych
oanalytic concepts according to psychoanalytic therapy center around m
ultimodal teamwork, taking into account the multidimensional transferen
ce processes, and hereby group therapy has priority. Behavioral projec
ts stress disorder-specific, psychoeducative individual and group-ther
apy concepts with the central aim, the ameliorate the self-management
of the patient for his/her illness. Recently, behavioral methods have
been increasingly integrated into pschoanalysis-based inpatient therap
ies and vice versa.
