SCHOOL DEVELOPMENT - ON THE NECESSITY OF CHANGE PROCESSES IN SCHOOLS

Taking the numerous change processes in society and family life-style into account, modern schools are to change their traditional structure . Effective schools have to fulfill compensatory, integrative, prevent ive and medial functions. Change processes in schools are based on sel f-organization and the competence of all persons who are involved in s chools. In 1996 the Bertelsmann Stiftung in Gutersloh has given an int ernationally announced award to those schools which are on the way to realize innovative school systems.
