Abstract
Several methods for lipid isolation and fatty acid analysis in two dif ferent strains of Saccharomyces cerevisiae were compared. As the most effective procedure the extraction with tetrachlormethane-diethyl ethe r-petrol ether mixture with an acid digestion step followed by fatty a cid analysis by capillary GC was found. Other methods underestimated b oth the lipid content and the content of fatty acids.
