Abstract
The aim of this was to formulate a physical, chemical and metallurgica l model to describe the changes in nitrogen content during oxygen conv erter processes. The model is based on the physical and chemical param eters of the metallurgical process, the converter steelmaking technolo gy and the chemical reaction kinetics. The model calculations performe d on this basis allow the changes in nitrogen content and its final co ncentration to be predicted for various parameters of the process. The model also creates a possibility to optimize process options to produ ce low-nitrogen steels and steels with a narrow range of nitrogen conc entration variability.
