Abstract
The simulation model presented allows the influence of selected conver ter process parameters on changes in nitrogen content during the blowi ng of a metal bath to be determined. The study analyzed the influence of nitrogen content in pig iron and scrap, purity of oxygen blow and a lso the nitrogen to argon (N-2/Ar) switching time of the bottom blow. The model calculations performed on this basis will allow prediction o f nitrogen concentration changes during the blowing process and also d etermination of final nitrogen concentrations in the steel. Finally, a n opportunity is created for the optimization of various process param eters of steel production (low-nitrogen steels or steels with a narrow range of nitrogen concentrations).
