T. Satoh et al., COHERENT BREMSSTRAHLUNG IN FERRITE OBSERVED BY AN ANALYTICAL TRANSMISSION ELECTRON-MICROSCOPE, Journal of Electron Microscopy, 47(4), 1998, pp. 345-350
Energy dispersive X-ray spectra of ferrite were observed with an analy
tical transmission electron microscope (TEM) with the accelerating vol
tages from 100 to 300 kV, and coherent bremsstrahlung (CB) peaks have
been investigated in detail. The energy and intensity of the CB peaks
have been measured by changing the incident beam direction and the acc
elerating voltage. It was found that in addition to the shift of CB pe
aks to higher energy, the intensities of CB peaks generally tend to be
come higher with increasing the accelerating voltage. It was also foun
d that the shapes in most CB peaks were asymmetrical and the intensiti
es of CB peaks were generally different in each spectrum. The peak ene
rgy of CB basically agreed with the calculated values. Furthermore, it
was pointed out that since the CB peaks could be confused with the ch
aracteristic X-ray peaks of small amounts of added elements such as Si
and Ca in ferrite, it was necessary to analyse away from major zone a
xes.
