Abstract
The specific perimeter is the statistical result of a simple technique for measuring the graininess of textures in print mottle or formation . The value represents the length of the median-density contour line p er unit area of the image. A high specific perimeter corresponds eithe r to small texture features or to a texture of low contrast. The speci fic perimeter is easy to determine with image analysis. Its indication s correlated well with visual assessments of paper samples by a panel of judges.
