Abstract
A new method of the genome DNA fingerprinting based on PCR technique w ith random primer has been developed. The method allows to reveal poly morphism of the organization of a concrete family of moderate repeats. The method was named SCAN because it realizes the scanning of the gen ome as a whole. The polymorphism in organization of Ill-repeats in gen ome of spontaneously hypertensive rats has been revealed by the method . Apparently, there are additional copies of ID in genome of spontaneo usly hypertensive rats compared to the closely related WKY normotensiv e line. Linkage of the polymorphism to the phenomenon of hypertension in spontaneously hypertensive rats is a subject of ongoing study.
