The asteroid (51) Nemausa attained the small solar phase angle 0.64 de
grees on 1994 September 24.90 and was observed in Stromgren uvby: at L
a Silla between September 25.0 and 27.4 UT, where the phase angle;vari
ed from 0.64 degrees to 1.37 degrees and the phase factor in y was fou
nd to vary during rotation in the range 0.05 to 0.13 mag/deg. This con
firms earlier found variation, but the high values observed here are d
ue to the opposition effect. The approximate 11:3 orbital resonance wi
th the Earth allows certain identification of minor details by compari
ng seven lightcurves separated 5.5 years observed since 1983. (C) 1998
