Abstract
Communication: Spectral narrowing in amorphous molecular solid films o f spiro-type molecules such as spiro-quarterphenyl (see Figure) is rep orted. It is demonstrated that introduction of the spiro linkage not o nly improves the processability and morphological properties but, for the molecules studied here, also suppresses concentration quenching, m aking these molecular solids attractive candidates for molecular solid -state lasers.
