Hq. Lin et al., INVESTIGATION OF THE COMPACT-TENSION-SHEAR (CTS) SPECIMEN BY THE METHOD OF CAUSTICS, International journal of fracture, 88(3), 1998, pp. 47-52
The optical method of caustics was used to determine stress-intensity
factors for straight cracks in compact-tension-shear (CTS) specimens.
The stress-intensity coefficients measured as functions of crack lengt
h and loading angle (mode I-mode II mixity) were in agreement with the
results of a finite-element analysis. The CTS specimen will be used t
o establish K-I-K-II fracture toughness envelope for transformation-to
ughened zirconia ceramics.
