Abstract
A new hoplonemertean species belonging to the genus Nipponnemertes is described from kelp holdfasts washed up on two New Zealand beaches fol lowing a major tropical storm. The new species is characterised by the presence of circulating erythrocytes and the presence of distinctive ''nuage-like'' material in oocytes.
