Mr. Warburg et M. Rosenberg, OVARIAN STRUCTURE IN A MILLIPEDE, EUMASTIGONUS SP. (DIPLOPODA, CAMBALIDAE), FROM NEW-ZEALAND, New Zealand journal of zoology, 25(3), 1998, pp. 301-306
The ovaries of Eumastigonus sp. (Diplopoda; Cambalidae) are arranged i
n irregularly shaped clusters of oocytes at different stages of develo
pment. These are attached to the germarium, and in close proximity to
the digestive tract (both midgut and hindgut), or embedded in a liver-
like tissue. Five sizes of oocytes could be distinguished, which repre
sent five different generations of oocytes. This millipede species app
ears therefore to be iteroparous, capable of reproducing at least five
times.
