THE NEW CAPITALISM

The cultural consequences of the highly mobile and economically more f lexible current capitalism have been neglected so far. The explorative essay draws attention to the radically changing conception of work an d place of the ''new capitalism'' and argues that the social sciences have to concentrate on an analysis of the consequences of these shifts : their effects on self-esteem, personal identity, the capabilities of building social relations and of political participation.
