Abstract
A notchlike bone defect in the basiocciput due to a prominent fossa na vicularis was incidentally discovered in a patient referred for radiol ogic evaluation of sinusitis. MR images showed that the osseous defect was filled with lymphoid tissue of the pharyngeal tonsil. The occurre nce of this anatomic variant is discussed, with reference to ancient a natomic works.
