Abstract
The iconographic study of the vegetal motifs in the Pompeian paintings of the Domus of the Centenario has enabled us to notice both the complexity of these paintings and their common inspiration. The richness and decorative variety of the repertory, examined by means of a scientific-naturalistic methodology, has pointed out the potentialities of this research and the necessity to turn it into a conventional application. From the conclusions concerning each single room, we can point out: - a significant stylistic-iconographic continuity also in non-contemporary paintings; - the naturalistic character permeating all paintings, also the imaginary ones; - a deep coherence between figurative motifs, environment and the function of the room.
