The project attemps to define spme aspects of the pre-historic population of the Mid-Olocene in Oman and to compare them to those attested in Lybia. This paper takes into account the "tethering stones2 as a source of information for the territory and its economy and climate. Studying the position of the tethering stones, their function and their shapes, we have defined a possible link between pre-historic man and his habitat and its exploitation, especially when humans changed their standard of living from hunting to breeding.
