Abstract
This paper establishes a result of Saint-Venant type for the solutions of the initial boundary-value problems of incremental elastodynamics, Such a result is used to study the uniqueness and continuous data dep endence of solutions. Both the cases of bounded and unbounded bodies a re discussed. One characteristic feature of the uniqueness and continu ous dependence results for unbounded bodies is that they are establish ed without any a priori artificial conditions concerning the growth of solutions at infinity.
