Abstract
The present paper proposes a new method for the external attachment of an acoustic tag on roundfish. The tag is placed in anterio-ventral po sition and attached with two wires passed around the pelvic girdle. Th is tagging method was tested on Atlantic cod and European sea bass usi ng acoustic heart rate transmitters. Preliminary results concerning me tabolic demand (oxygen consumption), heart rate and behaviour of free swimming individuals are presented and discussed.
