This study provides descriptive data on the incidence of masturbation
and sexual intercourse in a sample of students aged between 15 and 21-
years-old from Hefei City, China. Students from four schools were aske
d to complete a questionnaire on a range of sexual practices and attit
udes. The results reveal that out of a sample of 3386 students, 15.4%
reported engaging in masturbation and 5.46% had a sexual intercourse r
elationship with the opposite sex four weeks prior to the survey. The
findings also reveal significant gender differences in sexual activity
. Oi the students who reported being sexually active, the majority eng
aged in unsafe sexual practices. The results suggest the need for furt
her safe sex education among young people in China.
