Abstract
The optical spectra of AgX:Ni2+ (X = Cl, Br) in the O-h system, and th e ZFS parameter D in the axial system have been calculated by means of the mu K alpha model of the Ni2+-6X(-) (X = F, Cl, Br, I) cluster. Th e calculation shows that the band distance in AgX:Ni2+ has been reduce d isotropically and the axial system should be dependent on the Ni2+-v acancy along the z-axis. The results agree well with experimental find ings.
