M. Getzlaff et al., K-RESOLVED ELECTRONIC-PROPERTIES OF TERNARY HEAVY-FERMION SYSTEMS, Physical review. B, Condensed matter, 58(15), 1998, pp. 9670-9673
Electronic and structural properties of the heavy fermion intermetalli
cs CePd2Si2 and CeNi2Ge2 were determined using the techniques of low-e
nergy electron diffraction, electron-energy-loss spectroscopy (EELS) a
nd resonant photoemission. Atomically clean and well-ordered surfaces
were prepared by evaporating the corresponding crystal onto a W(110) c
rystal. This preparation procedure allows the application of angle-res
olved electron spectroscopic methods being sensitive to surface proper
ties. The behavior of the rare-earth f states was determined by EELS.
Resonant photoemission was carried out by tuneable synchrotron radiati
on allowing a direct assignment of the orbital nature of the electron
states hybridizing in the valence band as well as to distinguish betwe
en states of the different constituents. [S0163-1829(98)02336-4].
