The leaf oil of Dryadodaphne sp. (Mt. Lewis B.P. Hyland RFK1496) conta
ined delta-cadinene (10.7%), globulol (4.6%) and T-cadinol (3.70//0) a
s major compounds. In the bark and wood, the major compounds were guai
ol and bulnesol, with these compounds being approximately twice as pre
valent in the bark as in wood. In Levieria acuminata, the principal co
mponent of the leaf oil was n-dodecanal (28%), with delta-cadinene (5.
8%) and calamenene (5.7%) being the principal sesquiterpenes. Kibara r
igidifolia produced a complex leaf oil rich in sesquiterpenes, which a
lso contained (Z)-beta-ocimene (3-12%) and (E)-beta-ocimene (1.5%) as
principal monoterpenes. The principal sesquiterpenes were bicyclogerma
crene, germacrene-B, guaiol and spathulenol. (C) 1998 John Wiley & Son
