Cm. Mesavalle et al., IN-VITRO ACTION OF NEW ORGANOMETALLIC COMPOUNDS AGAINST TRYPANOSOMATIDAE PROTOZOA, Arzneimittel-Forschung, 43-2(9), 1993, pp. 1010-1013
The effects of 10 newly synthesized organometalic rhodium complexes (5
of Rh (I), 4 of Rh (III) and one of Rh (IV) complex salt) and 2 antim
ony (III) complexes against epimastigote forms of Trypanosoma cruzi an
d promastigote forms of Leishmania donovani have been studied in vitro
. Of the 10 rhodium complexes tested three proved 100% efficient in in
hibiting the growth of the epimastigote forms of T. cruzi while only o
ne worked against the promastigote forms of L. donovani. The two antim
ony complexes inhibited the growth of L. donovani totally and were fai
rly successful against T cruzi.
