Abstract
We evaluated the AMPLICOR cytomegalovirus (CMV) PCR kit for the diagno sis of neurologic CMV infections on 43 positive and 112 negative archi ved cerebrospinal fluid specimens originally tested by an in-house PCR method. The AMPLICOR kit showed sensitivity and specificity of 95 and 100%, respectively, versus the home-grown assay, indicating its utili ty in this clinical setting.
