Abstract
Soliton amplification in fiber amplifiers has been analyzed using eith er a parabolic-gain profile (as in the complex Ginzburg-Landau equatio n) or a Lorentzian pl profile (ns in the set of Maxwell-Bloch equation s). For multichannel soliton amplification in erbium-doped fiber ampli fiers, we present a new numerical method that takes into account the a ctual gain profile based on the experimental wavelength dependence of the transition cross sections.
