Abstract
An analytical expression is derived for the fraction of crystallites w hich are aligned within an angle, theta (0 < theta < 90 degrees), of t he sample's preferred orientation axis. The expression is given in ter ms of the preferred orientation parameter obtained in Rietveld refinem ent of the sample's diffractogram.
