Abstract
The L-arginine-nitric oxide pathway appears to play an important role in systemic hypertension, progressive renal disease, nephrotoxicity (l ead poisoning), inflammation and atherosclerosis, interactions of nitr ic oxide with other systems (renin-angiotensin, endothelins, eicosanoi ds, cytokines and other regulators of inflammation) have been describe d. These interactions may be important in disease states. Curr Opin Ne phrol Hypertens 7:547-550. (C) 1998 Lippincott Williams & Wilkins.
