Abstract
Insulin resistance may be associated with hypertension and additional cardiovascular disease risk factors. Troglitazone, a thiazolidinedione , is an insulin sensitizing agent that has recently been approved by t he USA Food and Drug Administration for the treatment of type II diabe tes. Thiazolidinediones and other agents that increase insulin sensiti vity, and lipid lowering drugs attenuate the development of hypertensi on in animal models and in limited clinical studies.
