Abstract
The reaction p + p --> D + e(+) + nu in the interior of the Sun has be en the focus of interest of a number of investigators due to its beari ng on the solar neutrino problem. In this paper we have calculated the effect of the excitation of plasma oscillations (plasmon) during the pp reaction and present results on the changes in the reaction rate an d in the energy spectra of e(+) and nu. The resulting implications for the Gallium experiment are briefly examined.
