Abstract
Biotechnology in a globalizing economy involves the participation of a ll countries-industrialized, developing and least developed, in the in terconnected web of trade liberalization in closed and open-market eco nomies. The various geopolitical or geocultural regions show striking approaches to the application of biotechnologies for development and t he safeguarding of intellectual property rights. The generally held vi ew that developing countries are doomed to being marginalized in a glo balizing economy is, seemingly, in need of revision.
