Abstract
A coordinate gauge of general type is analyzed where the 1-form (vecto r potential) is expressed as a contour integral of the 2-form (field s trength) along an arbitrary contour C. For a special class of contours the gauge condition reduces to t(mu)(x)A(mu)(x) = 0 where t(mu)(x) is a tangent vector to the contour C. As an application a simple proof o f the nonabelian Stokes theorem is given and the dual QCD Lagrangian i s derived. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
