Abstract
By using the Sagdeev pseudopotential method, solitary kinetic Alfven w aves (SKAW) are studied in a low-beta plasma, taking into account the electron inertia and ion temperature. Solitary wave solutions, and the electric and magnetic fields, are obtained using the knowledge of the pseudopotential analysis in plasma dynamics. It is found that both hu mp and dip solitons exist for SKAWs, conforming to the results of Frej a scientific satellite observations in space. (C) 1998 American Instit ute of Physics.
