Abstract
Pneumocystis carinii pneumonia (PCP) occurs commonly in immunocompromi sed patients. Sulfamethoxazole-trimethoprim (SMX-TMP) is effective pro phylaxis, although PCP may still occur despite apparently adequate use . We report three cases of PCP which highlight some of the pitfalls of prophylaxis.
