Abstract
Spontaneous bacterial peritonitis (SBP) is classically described in pa tients with cirrhosis and nephrotic syndrome. However, SEP rarely occu rs in patients with malignant ascites. We report a patient with gastri c cancer with ascites, who developed SEP. Clinicians need to be aware of this complication in patients with malignant ascites.
