Abstract
Results of measurements of optical bistability in a guest - host polym er structure are presented. A new type of polymer has been elaborated and its optical properties are described. The Fabry-Perot system has b een used and the bistabile behaviour has been observed. The second ord er cascaded chi((2))(omega): chi((2))(2 omega) process, leading to int ensity dependent phase shift, has been suggested as the mechanism lead ing to this effect. A satisfactory model of this phenomenon was formul ated.
