I. Yekeler et al., A CASE OF CARDIAC HYDATID CYST LOCALIZED IN THE LUNGS BILATERALLY ANDON ANTERIOR WALL OF RIGHT VENTRICLE, The thoracic and cardiovascular surgeon, 41(4), 1993, pp. 261-263
A 23-year-old man had been coughing with hemoptysis, and had received
tuberculostatic medication for four months without any benefit. Upon r
eferral, two-dimensional echocardiography showed a cystic mass located
in the anterior right-ventricular wall, without any protrusion into t
he ventricular cavity. CT examination revealed three cysts in the lung
fields bilaterally, additionally a multilocular cystic image in the r
ight-ventricular wall was observed. All components of hydatid cysts in
the heart and lungs were removed in the same session by median sterno
tomy. Extracorporeal bypass was used in this operation.
