The low-lying levels of Cu and Zn isotopes were excited with 2.0-4.5 M
eV proton beam. The deexcited gamma rays from these levels were detect
ed and identified in the singles spectra recorded with a 57 c.c. Ge(Li
) detector. The safe energies for Coulomb excitation process with prot
ons for these nuclei have been determined from the relative contributi
ons of compound nucleus formation and Coulomb excitation cross section
s. The reliable values of transition probabilities for the low-lying l
evels have also been measured by Coulomb excitation technique using sa
fe bombarding energies. The present results have been compared with th
e reported measurements and various nuclear model calculations. [S0556
